Everything about Artist Residency totally explained

An artist residency is a program where artists are given space to live or work for some time at reduced or no cost. Residency programs often give access to tools, and offer the chance to meet and work with notable artists, curators, writers, and theorists. These programs are typically supported in some part by donations, and many are allied with a university. Artist residency programs are a significant component of the arts and culture landscape worldwide.
Artist residencies are grounded in the notion that to create, artists need uninterrupted time and space. They exist in urban and in rural settings on all continents. More than 200 institutions are connected and present their profiles in Res Artis the worldwide network of artist residencies.
In most programs, artists apply for the program and are accepted based on their work and accomplishments. During their time in the residency, artists may be expected to lecture about their work, teach, or complete work for an exhibition.
Artist in Residence sometimes act as mentors or educators to students. The title "Teaching Artist" refers to an actor, musician, dancer, writer, or visual artist who has the expertise to share their artistry in arts and non-arts curricula.
